The Lenzing Group will expand and modernize its existing dissolving wood pulp production at the sites in Lenzing, Austria and Paskov, Czech Republic.

Lenzing CEO Stefan Doboczky announced an investment program totaling 100 million euro, of which approximately 60 million euro would be invested in Lenzing and almost 40 million euro in Paskov. New capacities of around 35,000 tons will be added over the next 2.5 years.

Doboczky says, “We aim to increase our own dissolving wood pulp production from the current 56% to 75% of the group’s requirements for the production of botanic cellulosic fibers by the end of the decade. The modernization will lead to higher efficiency of our plants.”

In August this year, Lenzing announced a 35,000-ton capacity expansion for specialty fibers by mid-2018. Roughly 70 million euro will be invested in the site in Heiligenkreuz, Burgenland and approximately 30 million euro in Lenzing, Upper Austria as part of this project. The new pulp investment program will be implemented in addition to these investments.

In the next 2.5 years, Lenzing will invest a total of 160 million euro in Austria, and thus is once again one of the leading industrial investors in Austria.
