According to revised statistics released from the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), the nation’s production of nonwoven fabrics in September 2018 decreased by 5.5% compared to the same month in 2017 to 27,202 tons. Production decreased in all categories except for needle-punched and wet-laid types.

The production of spunbonded/meltblown nonwovens continued to fall with a 12.9% decrease, as producers continued to relocate their production abroad. Needle-punched nonwoven fabric production slightly rose by 0.1% to 6,143 tons.
