According to statistics released by the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), the nation’s production of disposable diapers in 2018 decreased by 4.6% to 23.48 million diapers. By weight, production declined by 3% to 877,627 tons.
While the production of disposable diapers for babies has been decreasing (down 8.9% in number and 7.9% in weight), that of disposable diapers for adults continued to grow (up 4.3% in number and 3.7% in weight).
