According to the China Chemical Fibers Association, the nation’s production of man-made fibers during January-June 2019 grew by 12.1% over the year before to 28.04 million tons.

According to China’s National Bureau of Statistics, the total amount of profits of MMF enterprises with annual sales of 20 million yuan or larger dropped 23.0% during the first six months of this year to 13,344.41 million yuan.

This year’s first-half production increased for all items except for vinylon (down 17.2%) and rayon filament (down 2.2%).

MMF exports during the six months increased by 7.3% year-on-year to 2.4 million tons. The growth was almost the same as the year before. As a result of U.S.-China trade friction, exports to the U.S. fell 37%.

By item, exports of polyester filament rose by 11.6% to 1.3 million tons, while those of polyester staple fiber decreased by 3.6% and acrylic by 3.1%.

In regard to the total amount of profits of MMF enterprises with annual sales of 20 million yuan or larger, polyester fell 37.7% to 5,836.87 million yuan, along with nylon by 18.5% to 1,652.88 million yuan. As for rayon staple fiber, most of the enterprises were in the red.
