Delivery Deadline an Issue in JETRO Textile Export Negotiations

The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) recently organized negotiations for exporting fabrics to Europe and the U.S. with five major European and American brands in Tokyo. The persons in charge of procuring fabrics held negotiations with 65 Japanese firms. The negotiations were previously held in Fukui with 26 companies. An issue that came up in these negotiations was the delivery deadline.

According to Saiei-Orimono Co., Ltd., commodity fabrics and salt shrinkage-treated fabrics were well received in the negotiations. However, a shorter delivery time was said to be difficult, as processing would take one month. The company intends to cater to needs with stocks of commodity fabrics and materials enough to make one piece of garment. An official of Tatsumi Weaving Co., Ltd. said that soft materials that obtain body by their high-density construction and triacetate mix-weaves were highly appreciated in the negotiations, but a 45-day deadline could not be accepted, although dyeing alone requires sixty days.

Lily Lace International Co., Ltd. has been exhibiting in overseas exhibitions, and notes that an advantage of the JETRO negotiations is that you can carefully listen to the opinions of famous brands. The situation of dyeing in Kyoto is comparatively favorable, and a sample can be prepared in two weeks.
