H1 U.S. Textile & Apparel Imports Up in Volume But Down in Value

The Office of Textiles and Apparel reported that U.S. textile and apparel imports during January-June 2017 rose by 2.27% year-on-year to 30,681.69 million square meter equivalents (SME), but the value decreased by 2.03% to US$49,461.87 million.

Imports of textiles rose by 2.70% to 17,882.36 million SME, but the value decreased by 2.52% to US$12,214.25 million.

Apparel imports increased by 1.67% to 12,799.33 million SME, while the value declined by 1.86% to US$37,247.63 million.

First-half 2017 textile & apparel imports from China rose by 4.54% to 14,038.25 million SME, while the value decreased by 4.25% to US$16,799.47 million.
