According to the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the nation’s production of nonwoven fabrics in January 2018 increased by 7.2% over the same month of last year to 28,207 tons, thanks to vigorous demand in a number of applications. Production increased for nearly all items.

Itemwise, the production of spunbonded/meltblown fabrics grew by 8.9% to 8,993 tons, and that of spunlaced fabrics sharply rose by 15.0% to 3,997 tons, along with thermal-bonded fabrics by 15.0% to 3,172 tons.

Production also increased for needle-punched fabrics (up 3.2% to 6,068 tons) and wet-laid nonwovens (up 5.5% to 2,649 tons).
