Toyobo to establish joint venture with Indorama Ventures to build new plant for automobile airbag yarns

 Toyobo Co., Ltd. has agreed to set up a joint venture firm to produce yarns for automobile airbags with Bangkok-based Indorama Polyester Industries PCL (IPI), which is under the umbrella of the world’s largest polyethylene terephthalate (PET) producer, Indorama Ventures PCL (SET ticker: IVL). The joint company plans to build a new plant on the IPI factory site in Rayong Province, Thailand, and start operations in 1st Quarter of 2022.

Teijin Joins AZL Partner Network for Lightweight Production Technology

 The Teijin Group announced  that it has joined the AZL Partner Network for Lightweight Production Technology, a cross-industry network for joint business development and technology development organized by service and engineering provider AZL Aachen GmbH and involving nine institutes and some 80 companies in the field of lightweight production. On October 22, the network will be kicking off one of their many joint projects, an eight-month project to develop and manufacture multi-material battery enclosures for electrical vehicles (EV).

Teijin Frontier Unveils New Extra-absorbent, Fast-drying Fabric with Diatomaceous Earth-like Surface

 Teijin Frontier Co., Ltd., the Teijin Group’s fibers and products converting company, announced an all-new high-absorption,quick-drying fabric inspired by the fine structure of diatomaceous earth used in bath mats. Teijin Frontier will begin selling its new fabric for casual wear in spring/summer 2021 collections, targeting annual sales of 50,000 meters in fiscal 2020 and a tenfold increase to 500,000 meters in fiscal 2022.
