The Ramadan (fasting month) sales season will determine the success or failure of fiscal 2016 exports of fabrics for thobe (an ankle-length Arab garment) to the Middle East, and sales are expected to reach a peak in early July. In fiscal 2015, thobe fabric exports remained buoyant for Japanese companies thanks to the weaker Japanese currency, and this was a factor driving up their business performance.
