According to the China National Textile & Apparel Council, the nation’s cotton imports in 2016 dropped 39.1% compared to the previous year to 894,400 tons.
The release of national cotton reserves and stagnant exports of textiles and apparel had an impact on cotton imports. The annual average import price remained about the same at US$1.74/kg.
