The Japan Chemical Fibers Association reported that January 2017 man-made fiber production in Japan dropped 5.7% compared to the same month of last year to 72,880 tons, of which synthetic fibers fell 6.1% to 57,660 tons.
Cellulosic fiber production decreased by 3.9% to 15,220 tons.
Production of major items are as follows:
- Nylon filament: 8,556 tons (up 15.2%)
- Polyester filament: 11,036 tons (up 6.4%)
- Polyester staple fiber: 8,736 tons (down 13.9%)
- Acrylic staple fiber: 7,755 tons (down 22.8%)
MMF ending stocks rose by 2.8% from the previous month to 92,551 tons.
