According to statistics released from the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), the nation’s production of disposable diapers in February 2017 increased by 9.2% in weight compared to the same month of last year to 72,310 tons. In quantity, production rose by 13.6% to 2,003.06 million sheets.
Disposable diaper production increased for both adults and babies.
The production of disposable diapers for adults grew by 3.3% in weight to 30,136 tons and by 4.8% in quantity to 647.13 million sheets. The pants type grew by 4.6% to 10,947 tons, and the pad/liner type was up 4.0% to 18,464 tons.
The production of disposable diapers for babies (pants type) grew by 13.8% in weight to 42,174 tons and by 18.4% in quantity to 1,355.93 million sheets.
Disposable diaper production during the first two month of this year rose by 6.9% in weight year-on-year to 136,174 tons and by 9.6% in quantity to 3,770.79 million sheets.
