According to the Japan Chemical Fibers Association, the nation’s production of man-made fibers during January-March 2017 decreased by 5.1% year-on-year to 221,729 tons.
Of this, synthetic fibers declined by 7.4% to 175,214 tons.
Production increased for cellulosic fibers (up 4.3% to 46,515 tons), nylon filament (up 11.3% to 24,634 tons) and polyester filament (up 3.0% to 30,723 tons).
