Avio S.p.A. of Italy and Toray Industries, Inc. have signed a long-term supply agreement that extends to 2027 (including extension). This agreement aims at long-term commitment to supply Torayca carbon fibers to Avio for application in rocket motor cases, and strengthening cooperation between the two groups for space applications.

Avio is a leader in high-end aerospace applications, having its main business in the development and production of launcher systems and supplying rocket motors and boosters for VEGA and Ariane 6.

Toray has been supplying higher strength carbon fibers to Avio for several years via its French subsidiary (Toray Carbon Fibers Europe S.A.). With this agreement, Toray aims to expand its carbon fiber supply to rocket motor cases developed by Avio for future programs including Vega-C and Ariane 6, and reinforce its commitment as a main supplier of advanced materials for aerospace applications and business.

Nowadays, satellites are indispensable for broadcasting, communication, GPS, earth observation, disasters prevention and in various other fields. Satellite launchers are also in growing demand. In response to trends to seek higher performance and reduce the cost of launching, more carbon fiber reinforced composite components will be used for launchers to meet such needs and technical achievements.

Toray develops and provides higher functional carbon fibers, contributing to expansion of the space and satellite markets.
