According to the Indonesian Ministry of Industry, the nation’s exports of textiles and apparel during January-May 2017 increased by 3.4% year-on-year to US$5,110 million.
The Ministry set this year’s growth target for the textile industry at 1.6-1.7%, surpassing the industry’s 2016 performance by 1.2% annually.
According to MOI statistics, the textile and apparel industries employed 2.69 million persons during the first five months of this year, which accounts for 17% of employment in all manufacturing industries.
