According to the consolidated business performance of Shima Seiki Mfg., Ltd. for the first half of the current fiscal year (April-September 2017), sales increased by 20.1% year-on-year to 35,569 million yen, operating profits grew by 46.5% to 8,060 million yen, and net profits climbed 287.8% to 6,529 million yen.
Sales of flat knitting machines increased by 24.5% to 29,569 million yen. Sales of computerized flat knitting machines were strong for Bangladesh and ASEAN. Even for China, sales grew for WholeGarment knitting machines and computerized flat knitting machines for shoe production. Sales to Europe were about the same as the year before. Meanwhile, sales to Turkey decreased, along with those of computerized flat knitting machines toward the Japanese market.
Sales of design systems increased by 9.9% to 1,980 million yen, while those of glove and sock knitting machines decreased by 5.4% to 869 million yen.
