According to the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), the nation’s production of nonwoven fabrics in 2018 decreased by 0.1% from the previous year to 342,831 tons.
Production decreased for dry-laids (down 0.5% to 307,849 tons), but increased for wet-laids (up 4.1% to 34,982 tons)
Among dry-laids, production increased for needle-punched (up 3.3% to 75,351 tons) and spunbonded/meltblown (up 6.8% to 51,138 tons).
