According to the Japan Chemical Fibers Association, the nation’s production of man-made fiber during January-March 2019 fell 4.6% year-on-year to 207,878 tons, of which synthetic fibers declined by 4.8% to 163,103 tons.
First-quarter production increased for polyester filament (up 2.0% to 29,872 tons) and polyester staple fiber (up 3.5% to 21,657 tons).
