According to the General Administration of Customs of PRC, the nation’s exports of textiles and apparel (including apparel accessories) during January-February 2020 dropped 21.8% year-on-year to US$29.83 billion (provisional). It is the sharpest decrease in recent years since exports fell 29.3% in March 2018.
As a result of the spreading coronavirus, the restart production after the Chinese New Year was delayed by 10 to 20 days, and this had an impact on exports.
Exports of textiles fell 19.9% to US$13.77 billion, and those of apparel dropped 20.0% to US$29.83 billion.
