Asahi Kasei Corp. has decided to terminate the operations and liquidate its dyeing and processing subsidiary, Fujiseisen Co., Ltd. (located in Fujiyoshida City, Yamanashi Prefecture). Although the company had attempted to improve profitability through cost reductions and workforce adjustments, it concluded that there was no prospect of resolving its state of excess liabilities. Production will end in March 2027, with liquidation scheduled for June 2028.

Fuji Seisen’s business includes dyeing and processing of yarns, as well as dyeing and finishing of fabrics and nonwoven materials. Since its establishment in 1944, the company has played an important role, but declining sales due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, combined with rising manufacturing costs, have led to a prolonged difficult business environment. The ownership ratio is Asahi Kasei 54%, Asahi Kasei Advance Corporation 31%, and others 15%.

Asahi Kasei stated that it will continue discussions with business partners to minimize any impact on the supply chain. Furthermore, it expressed the view that the technologies, equipment, and supply chain cultivated by Fujiseisen should ideally continue to contribute to industrial development. The company welcomed “constructive dialogue opportunities” with enterprises and organizations interested in utilizing these tangible and intangible assets.
