According to the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS), the nation’s exports of textiles and apparel during January-March 2017 grew by 12.4% year-on-year to US$6,750 million.
Exports to newly emerging markets posted strong growths, such as for Russia (up 115%), Singapore (up 36%) and for Brazil and India (up 34% each).
Exports to the U.S., EU and other conventional markets rose at rates of 6.3-6.4%.
VITAS indicates that while exports of conventional products rose by 13-17%, those of relatively new items including swimwear, raincoats and scarves grew at rates of 18-41%.
The various efforts to export new products and those toward new markets are factors for the sharp, stable growth in exports.
