According to The Japan Textiles Importers Association report based on Ministry of Finance trade statistics, the nation’s imports of apparel in July decreased by 18.1% from the same month of last year to 194.12 billion yen. The import quality rose by 1.5% to 289.04 million units.

Imports including accessories declined by 0.9% in quantity and 17.3% in value to 76,450 tons worth 226.4 billion yen.
Imports from the nine largest supplying countries excluding Rumania decreased by roughly more than 10% in value. The decrease in import value is because the Japanese currency has appreciated by about 20% during the past year.

January-July apparel imports (including accessories) decreased by 8.6% in value year-on-year to 1,616.9 billion yen, while the volume increased by 1.5% to 521,370 tons.
