Teijin Frontier Co., Ltd. announced that it has developed a next-generation, multi-functional comfort textile designed for sports and outdoor apparel. This innovative material combines superior skin-side dryness with multiple cooling features, including heat shielding and ultraviolet (UV) protection, and aesthetic properties such as anti-transparency and sweat-mark reduction.Global warming has driven growing demand for apparel that prevents stickiness from perspiration and offers cooling functions such as UV blocking and heat shielding. Consumers and athletes alike now seek garments that not only deliver comfort in elevated temperatures
but also maintain a neat appearance by reducing sweat marks and preventing see-through effects.
To meet these needs, Teijin Frontier leveraged its advanced spinning technology for core sheath conjugate yarns and its proprietary fiber processing techniques to create high-crimp, false-twist textured core-sheath conjugate yarns.
These full-dull yarns suppress light transmission, block UV rays and heat, and provide softness and an excellent feel.By incorporating these special yarns into the surface layer of a uniquely structured textile whose skin-side layer combines water-repellent and water-absorbent yarns, Teijin Frontier developed the textile.
This product, offered in woven and knitted versions, delivers the following features:
Skin-side dryness: The inner layer of this textile intermingles water-repellent and water absorbent polyester yarns to quickly absorb sweat and transfer it to the outer layer, while preventing reverse migration to ensure lasting comfort. UV protection, heat shielding and anti-transparency: Core-sheath conjugate yarns with high titanium dioxide content effectively block light transmission, shielding against UV rays
and heat while reducing see-through.
Sweat-mark reduction: The yarn arrangement minimizes differences in light reflectance between wet and dry areas, reducing the visibility of sweat marks.
Environmental compliance: The textile is made without per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).
Teijin Frontier plans to launch this textile for sports and outdoor apparel in Japan and overseas markets starting in the 2027 Spring/Summer clothing season. The company intends to expand the use of this textile into lifestyle applications such as fashion and
innerwear in the future.
Teijin Frontier targets the textile sales of 150,000 meters in fiscal 2027 and 400,000 meters by fiscal 2029.
