Toray Industries, Inc. is pleased to announce that Alva Confecções S.A. (location: Sintra, Portugal; hereinafter “Alva”), the Portuguese airbag sewing base of Toray Group company Alva Sweden AB (head office: Mölndal, Västra Götaland, Sweden; President: Masahide Kuramoto), will open a dedicated Ultrasuede showroom and stock sales point on the factory premises in January 2026. In addition, Ultrasuede will launch its first-ever sewing operations by leveraging the existing facilities of Alva,

Established in Portugal in 1965, Alva is a specialized sewing company and serves as a key European airbag sewing base for the Toray Group. By opening a showroom and stock sales point in Portugal, Toray aims to focus primarily on the local interior and furniture industry, while also broadly extending proposals to various other applications including fashion, accessories, consumer electronics, automotive, etc. Thereby further strengthening overall proposal capabilities. The launch of Ultrasuede sewing operations will reinforce the supply chain in Europe, enabling faster stock operations for the European market and the establishment of an integrated supply chain that covers everything from cutting to sewing.

The showroom’s spatial design has been created by the designer duo of Portugal-born Rui Pereira (Design & Visual Direction Manager at HAY) and Japan-born Ryosuke Fukusada (Principal of FUKUSADA STUDIO). The project transforms a part of Toray’s factory into a calm environment showcasing the brand’s material library.
Also on display is the new pouf & benches “ANZA,” designed by the same duo in collaboration with the Danish furniture brand PLEASE WAIT to be SEATED, featuring Ultrasuede as its upholstery material.

Under the Ultrasuede vision of “to enrich society through empowered creativity and materials evolution,” we will continue to take on the challenge of realizing Toray Group’s corporate philosophy, “Contributing to society through the creation of new value with innovative ideas, technologies, and products.”
