China’s Ministry of Commerce announced that anti-dumping duties of 2.0-20.1% on pure terephthalic acid (PTA) imported from Korea and Thailand has been extended for another five years from August 11th.
PTA is a chemical product used as a material for producing polyester fiber, PET resin, PET films, etc.
China has been taking anti-dumping duty measures against Korean and Thai PTA since August 2010. Because the local industry petitioned for a continuation of the measures as the five-year period came to expire in August 2015, a sunset review was made by authorities.
The authorities judged that a termination of the measures might restart dumping that would cause injury to the local industry.
