According to the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the nation’s production of nonwoven fabrics in September 2016 decreased by 2.7% compared to the same month of last year to 28,295 tons, thus decreasing for the third consecutive month.

By item, the production of chemical-bondeds increased for the fourth straight month (up 4.4% in September to 1,671 tons), along with that of spunlaces for five consecutive months (up 13.5% to 4,123 tons).On the other hand, the production of spunbondeds/meltblowns decreased for four straight months (down 5.7% in September to 8,659 tons), together with that of thermal-bondeds for five straight months (down 17.2% to 3,076 tons). The production of needle-punched nonwovens decreased for the second straight month (down 1.5% to 5,963 tons).

January-September 2016 nonwoven fabric production amounted to 253,547 tons, remaining about the same as the year before.
