At a press conference held on February 2nd, Lucas Seifert, CEO of H&M Japan, explained the business policy for 2017, and disclosed plans to open 10-14 new stores mainly in shopping malls this year.
Since opening its first store in Japan in 2008, the number of stores have surpassed 60 in nine years. Seifert stressed that H&M can still expand in Japan if you consider that there are SPAs (specialty stores of private label apparel) with more than 800 stores in Japan.
