According to provisional figures released from China’s General Administration of Customs, the nation’s exports of textiles and apparel in February 2017 dropped 29.8% from the same month of last year to US$10,980 million.

In recent years, February 2017 exports were the lowest since exports were at US$10,880 million in February 2014.

The breakdown of February 2017 exports was: textiles, US$4,590 million (down 24.5%) and apparel, US$6,390 million (down 33.3%).

The export drop is attributed to the Chinese New Year from January 27th.

Textile and apparel exports during the first two months of this year decreased by 9.1% year-on-year to US$34,880 million: textiles, US$14,170 million (down 7.0%) and apparel, US$20,710 million (down 10.5%).
