The Lenzing Group is expanding the production capacity for Tencel specialty fiber at its site in Heiligenkreuz, Burgenland (Austria).

Lenzing CEO Stefan Doboczky says, “We will invest about 70 million euro over the coming twelve-month period to expand the production capacities for our high-quality botanic specialty fiber. With these investments, we are responding to strong global demand for new types of Tencel premium fiber such as Refibra, which uses cotton scraps from the manufacturing of cotton garments and wood as raw materials.”

The annual production capacities for fibers will increase by about 25,000 tons as a result of the investments. The fibers will be available to customers from the end of the first quarter of 2018.
