According to the Japan Chemical Fibers Association, the nation’s production of man-made fibers in July 2017 decreased marginally by 0.7% from the same month of last year to 75,988 tons, of which synthetic fibers declined by 1.9% to 63,065 tons.
Among major items, the production of nylon filament grew by 9.2% to 8,503 tons, while production decreased for acrylic staple fiber (down 6.5% to 10,541 tons), polyester filament (down 6.0% to 9,897 tons) and polyester staple fiber (down 13.5% to 8,516 tons).
