According to the Japan Chemical Fibers Association, the nation’s production of man-made fibers in November 2017 decreased by 3.3% compared to the same month in 2016 to 70,958 tons, of which synthetic fibers declined by 0.5% to 56,647 tons.
The production of polyester staple fiber and polyester filament decreased sharply: PSF, 5,688 tons (down 19.4%) and PF, 9,594 tons (down 10.6).
Nylon filament production was strong with a 16.0% growth to 7,929 tons. Polypropylene staple fiber production also continued to head upward (up 3.5% to 5,576 tons).
