According to China’s General Administration of Customs, the nation’s exports of textiles and apparel in 2017 increased by 1.5% over the previous year to US$266,950 million (provisional), thus increasing for the first time in three years.

Reflecting the relocation of production of apparel and sewn products to ASEAN and other regions, exports of textiles grew by 4.5% to US$109,770 million, while those of apparel decreased by 0.4% to US$157,180 million. The decrease in apparel exports was 9.2 percentage points smaller than in 2016.

December 2017 textile and apparel exports increased by 2.5% over the same month of the previous year to US$24,020 million: textiles, US$10,160 million (up 10.9%) and apparel, US$13,850 million (down 3.0%).
