According to the General Administration of Customs of PRC, the nation’s exports of textiles and apparel in 2019 decreased by 1.9% from the previous year to US$271,566.8 million (provisional), thus decreasing for the first time in three years since 2016.
Factors affecting exports were the decrease in exports to the U.S. caused by U.S.-China trade friction and stagnant global apparel markets.
Exports of textiles rose by 0.9% to US$120,199.2 million, an all-time high for the second straight year.
Apparel exports declined by 4.0% to US$151,367.6 million. 2018 apparel exports increased for the first time in four years since 2014, but exports decreased again in 2019.
