According to the Office of Textiles and Apparel, U.S. imports of textiles and apparel in May 2020 dropped 42.0% compared to May 2019 to 3,544.8 million square meter equivalents

(MSME). In value, May imports amounted to US$4,124.69 million.

May imports of textiles sharply decreased by 32.2% to 2,594.2 MSME, and those of apparel fell 58.3% to 950.5 MSME.

Textile and apparel imports during January-May 2020 declined by 19.9% year-on-year to 22,210.3 MSME: textiles, 14,043.7 MSME (down 15.5%) and apparel, 8,166.6 MSME (down 26.5%). In value, imports fell 25.81% to US$32,895.05 million: textiles, 8,973.88 million (down 20.1%) and apparel, US$23,921.17 million (down 27.8%).
