Toray Industries, Inc. will raise its prices of woven and knitted fabrics for women’s and men’s wear, sportswear, uniforms, lining and non-apparel applications from September 2018 contracts.

The price increase for apparel firms is to range from 5% to 15%.

According to the company, utilities expenses including electricity and material costs such as packaging materials have been sharply increasing in fiscal 2018, along with logistics costs due to a lack of personnel. In addition, fabric material costs have increased at sharp rates, because the prices of polyester materials such as purified terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol as well as those of caprolactam for producing nylon have been remaining at high levels.
