According to the Japan Chemical Fibers Association, the nation’s production of man-made fibers in September 2016 decreased by 5.0% from the same month of last year to 78,190 tons. Of this, synthetic fibers declined by 6.3% to 63,298 tons.

Among major items, nylon filament production increased by 1.3% to 7,812 tons. On the other hand, polyester staple fiber production fell 18.5% to 9,384 tons, along with that of polyester filament by 2.6% to 9,823 tons, and acrylic staple fiber by 10.1% to 10,527 tons.

January-September MMF production decreased by 4.7% year-on-year to 701,114 tons, of which synthetic fibers declined by 4.8% to 576,487 tons.
