According to the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), the nation’s nonwoven fabric production in February 2017 decreased by 6.2% compared to the same month of last year to 26,026 tons, thus decreasing for eight straight months.
Production during the first two months of this year declined by 5.6% year-on-year to 52,335 tons.
By item, February production increased for chemical bonded (up 8.2% to 1,624 tons) and spunlaced (up 3.8% to 3,459 tons). Needle-punched remained flat at 5,795 tons. Spunbonded/meltblown decreased by 14.7% to 7,485 tons, thus extending their decrease from last June.
